Farmgirl Katie!

Katie got to come home with me on Thursday so we got to spend the whole weekend together playing. Papa was busy a lot with roofing but still got to spend some quality time with our little Katie Bug.
The sand box was an instant hit. We spent quite a lot of time there and also planting some flowers and watering.
She really does enjoy the horses and is really excited that she is almost to reach the stirrups. :)  We fed the horses twice a day and she was on the lookout for Papa's new kitty---she named Cupcake!
She didn't want to quit riding, but I told her Cheyenne was ready for her supper. We had such splendid days outside.

We had some riding lessons as well and she caught on very quick. It must run in the family!!
Papa and Katie planted a couple of rows of corn. She had lots of questions for papa.
She has turned in to quite a little farmgirl! the mud, worms, dirt didn't seem to phase her but she doesn't like bugs or flies at all!
I hope her boots went home cleaner than what they show here. Proof that we did some work outside!  There was a lot  more that we accomplished - riding in trucks, on tractors, the gator, bicycle, and baking, and playing dolls, and school, and a little bit of Scooby Doo! She even went with me to get my haircut...  Only problem is ---- she had to go home!  Now Papa and I have a saddog face ! :-(

More ~ Golden Oldie Photos!

I love our "old" photos!  My mom always said you know you are getting old when your kids are getting old!  LOL..... Life is too short ~ better enjoy every minute of every day..... dishes, shopping, things...... can WAIT! Precious memories for sure.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Code and I. This is so typical of us... we were always on our horses.. However - going barefoot is not to be practiced by my grandchildren. Apparantly my folks that it was acceptable! I hardly remember wearing shoes at all in the summer.  Old "Spot" was quite a ride!
My Dad, I miss him so!  Eric followed him around like a little puppy! They were always on some adventure and Shawn was trailing him too with tons of questions.
Calyja was so good with kids, but Bruce - another story! Shawn rode her like he had no fear at all. She was always so gentle with the kids.... Shawn was usually with the horses or mules when we traveled - they were his entertainment!
My Mom was so proud of Shawn and loved watching him in his sports. You cann tell by that French smile.... She was always a truly joyous person and loved everyone. And by the way, she loved to tease the boys.... I'm sure they have special memories of that!
Eric always had animals around him... Here he decided to snuggle with some baby pigs. He laid in the grass and they crawled up on him to get warm...
This little spotted puppy was Shawn's Christmas present from Santa. We named him "KC" after the KC Royals. He was so surprised to find him under Grandpa Guy's Christmas tree.
Eric in his football gear - he played sports too and was quite athletic as well! I high school he decided that music was a little more safe - and I agreed. Became quite a good drummer as well!
Bumpkin and Levi were the boys sidekick! Many hours were spent playing with them. Both were part of the rodeo and could run barrels to entertain the crowd. I might add that they were always a hit!
My mom and dad celebrating life - I do miss them- we had soooooooo many get togethers. Family - came first - everything else - a distant second!
Bruce in his clown makeup at a Kansas rodeo. He was a great entertainer - and funny! The kids would have enjoyed all his antics!
This was taken in Hawaii on our first trip in 1980. Just a few years ago!

Blast from the Past!

I created a book for Bruce for our 40th wedding anniversary and decided I would share some of the pictures that are so dear to my heart. They bring back so many memories of the boys, our adventures, and our "normal" everyday life! If we weren't outside - we were getting ready to go outside, or getting ready for bed..... LOL!

Those were the days my friend..... Treasure all your special times with your family! After the horrific attack in Boston, we never know what tomorrow may bring. God bless them all.....
ENJOY!
