It must be Summer-L.T. & his summer do!

Yep, it's that time of the year for L.T. to have a little relief from the heat! He actually looks forward to his summer do with Bruce. Can't you see the silly grin on his face! Anyway, after the event, he usually leaves behind almost a wheel barrow load of hair. Turbo was the same way(his mother). This has been another insane week of chasing your tail. Bruce and I have been so tired, but mostly Bruce (he starts at 4:00 a.m. to keep up with 2 crews). I sleep in till 6 a.m. Besides the business, the corn has to be shucked, blackberries picked and cleaned and put up, mow the grass, and water. I've been in charge of collecting the $$$$. I'm good at that! I think we've had 3 semi loads of shingles delivered this week plus plywood from Lowe's and next week we get a semi load of felt. We are out at the farm with hardly any inventory here. The crews are roofing 2 houses a day and they are really big ones! They are doing a great job! Anxious to see the grandkids next week - maybe they can get Papa to slow down and play! Blackie he going to be saddled on Monday if the cinch will go around the girth! He loves the kids too! Going over to help the younger Papon clan move tomorrow! Looking forward to a little one on one with Bugs!

L.T. and his clipping!
Doesn't he look happy?

There's that grin again!

I know - it's not pretty - but it's functional! Bruce really does try!
The happy trio!

Girlfriends are a special gift!

On thursday, friday, and saturday - my special girlfriends from college got together for a spa weekend. First we met in Hutchinson for supper and went to the Anchor Inn and the food was spectacular. The next morning, Gayla guided all of us to Yoder to the Carriage House for a breakfast and then we went shopping in downtown Yoder. What beautiful quaint shops they have. We formed an automobile train and headed to Wichita for our spa party at Serenity. They provided us with food, fruit, and a drink and then we had a foot soak, massage, and facial. Can't believe how relaxed we were after an afternoon at Serenity. All the girls were so friendly at the Spa and very helpful. We had so much fun chatting and catching up on the past year. The stay at the Hyatt Regency was very nice. Was fun to look over the river in the cool evening air. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful. Next year we are all planning a trip to the coast around Savannah. We've been there but we all loved it. The history is so rich on the east coast and I love the ocean. I'll start planning that in the winter. Next friday, we'll be helping Eric and Theresa move to their new house. It will be a busy weekend but it will be fun playing with Katie too.
In Old Town, a group of guys were playing bongos.
They were quite good!
Eric could have joined in with his bongos.
Friends for over 40 years ~ hard to believe!

Vic, Jackie, and Gayla~

Yvette, Vic and Gayla~

Still Best Friends!! We went to Old Town for supper and to enjoy the area! The fountain area in the middle of the square by the old Warren Theater.

HOT-HOT-HOT - Triple Digits on the Farm!

This week can only be described with a three letter word - HOT~ ! and I didn't really do much but move equipment and deliver bids, and deliver more material and more material and stuff. This was the first full week of having two crews running and we knew we would be running non-stop! A total of 11 houses were roofed this week. On Thursday, the actual temperature recorded by the Weather Service was 118 degrees. It felt like you were sitting in an oven with a fan going. Weird! I have no idea how our crews survived this week - I guess they are TOUGH!! Our dogs have been hiding out in the house even when I leave for the day - L.T. thinks he doesn't need to go outside in this weather at all. Tonight is the night for his summer DO. I'll post it for all to see when Dad gets done with him. It's always good for a good Hoot to see L.T. right after his summer do! When the northerners head this way - better make sure your AC works - and I mean really well! Looks like more of the same next week in the forecast. It did cool down today to only 103 - since it's a little bit overcast. Papa picked more corn yesterday and I froze it along with zuchinni. I keep dropping off squash to unsuspecting souls when no one is home. :) You could be next~~~Tomorrow all the potatoes are getting dug up before the soil turns to concrete. Our tomatoes are producing now and we're getting some beans.

No idea how these daisies bloom in this heat - with the Vizsla looking on.
Junior is steadily growing along with Bubba and LuLu.
They are already heavy weights.
My attempt at wildflowers. They didn't come up too well but
they are on their own. No water or weeding from me.

Pa headed out with the big truck to make 2 deliveries before Monday.

He has a pretty big load here. Just need an air conditioner in this heat!!!

Crazy, Busy July 4th weekend!

Well, the week in general was crazy - with the roofing, trying to find an apartment for our help, going to eastern Kansas to see Grandpa and Grandma and stopping in for July 4th activities with K-bro and K-bug and family. We went flying one evening in that week and I took some pictures of our farm but it was almost dark. Will try again, but we had a lot of fun flying Tricky! Then we took freezer meals on over to Papa and Nana P over in eastern Kansas and visited and checked on the place. I made an angel food cake before I left and everyone was in better spirits when we left. By 5:30, we made it to our next destination - T & E grilled hamburgers and we had corn on the cob, fruit salad, and cole slaw and a red velvet cake. Yum, Yum! We all ate like there was no tomorrow. Then we went outside and watched K-bro light some fireworks with Papa and E. We got to watch some of the fireworks by the pond before we headed home. What a funfilled day, but we were sure tired when we made it home!

Daddy E trying to get a hole in one on the pond boat!
Was really fun to watch. He golfs like me~ sorry son~
