Flying Firsts! Memorial Weekend

Its been a while since we have had some new fliers in our family, but over Memorial weekend we had two grandkids fly for the first time in our 182. Both could hardly contain themselves but Buggy and Bear had so MUCH fun!  I don't think Bear ever quit smiling. The wind was awful on saturday and sunday but monday was wonderful!
Buggy was patiently waiting to go up in the 182. Boy was she excited!!
Bear was ready too! He told Eric to shut the door! Haha....he had sooooo much fun.
Right before they got in! Bear had to try his hand at the instruments of course.
Daddy was instrumental in keeping both Bear and Buggy happy in the air!

I must say, he was a very proud Daddy today!
Moose got to talk on the radio and sit in my seat as co-pilot. He thought that was very cool!
The Papa Pilot and his 3 happy grandkids!

No sooner did they get out of the 182 and Bear said, "Let's go in that one Papa!" meaning the L-2!  He would gladly have went up again!
The plane that made it all possible.... our beautiful 182!

Bear and Nana enjoying our time together!
He is such a funny boy! You gotta love that onery smile!

Moose outgrew his old bike - we had this one at our house and it fits him perfectly so we are glad he can ride the wheels off of it! He was on it quite a bit over the weekend.
Papa was hot in the afternoon, so I filled up the pool and the kids enjoyed cooling off and cooling off Papa! Notice they ALL are dumping on him. Boy was that cold.....
more bicycle fun in the shop!

 Bear in the hangar!
Notice the chocolate covered face! That cake everyone enjoyed too!
A little tractor time - We would have had an uprising otherwise!  :)

and the kids really enjoyed watching the field by our house get cut! What a Great weekend!  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Let's not forget our fallen heroes. I really miss my dad who proudly served in the Air Force and also Bruce's dad who served as well in WWII. AND last but not least, to Eric who served during Desert Storm in the Air Force. Thanks for your service! We are so proud of you!

Just stuff!

This post is not about any one thing but a multitude of things that have been going on. Hopefully this won't be too boring! We bought us a new grill  - so I took a picture.....
of our new grill - it works so good!
and it cooks so good too!
My new quilt I started after Christmas - its a Civil War quilt called Crosses and Losses! I love it..
Bruce has been doing a major renovation on the shop and thisis some of the dirtwork so we will no longer have a river running through it!

Our potatoes have been through at least 3 hailstorms and they are still producing. We have already ate some.
Rubarb after the hail!
My new find!  I am so excited - it was
in my cellar! It fits perfectly on the sunporch!
I LOVE IT!
This pic is for K-Girl - she always is asking me how to do pastels.... this is a pastel I did of a landscape many moons ago! I still really like it!
Our wonderful neighbor and animal care giver Blake is moving to Waynoka. We are always dog sitting Johnny Ringo. We will sure miss that little guy and I know Emmy will too. Oh yeah, we will really miss Blake too! He is so nice and a great friend to us both. I got this pic of him in my dirty clothes hamper.  I guess he loves stinky clothes.  Yuck!!

The harvest is going fast and furious! I'm hating all this wind and heat but I know the harvesters and farmers love it. Hoping this harvest is over very SOON!

Buggy at the Farm

Its always fun for Papa and Nana when the grandkids come for a visit, and this time Buggy got to spend Wednesday through Friday here. Usually its the samo samo - feeding and riding Cheyenne, feeding Pepper the cat, checking and working in the garden, riding the bike, riding the gator, cooking, dishes, etc. But this time, she got to go help Papa at work doing some guttering. So, we packed a lunch (she helped) of peanut butter sandwiches, chips, yogurt, chips, apples, and drinks. As a plus, she got to play with the homeowner's little corgy?? who loves to play ball and she got to use the potty in Papa's trailer. Its funny how the little things impact them.  Of course, I didn't take my camera but Papa got a good picture with his cell phone. She even earned a few bucks!

Also, Robert came with a load of shingles and she reallys enjoyed watching it unload.

Also, I forgot to mention the little hummingbirds at the feeder. She LOVED watching them and we had a contest on who could see it first!! We went out in the pasture and she kept telling me Uncle Shawn would like to see all the birds. :-)  Most of them she informed me were hummingbirds!!
I need to invest in a bicycle helmet - so next time I'm at Walmart!!!

End of the day!!
Then, we went over to Eric & Theresa's and spent the night. Little Bear enjoyed watching his new John Deere video with his Papa.
 They are usually pretty close!
It was a beautiful day to watch Moose play soccer. And I must say, he is really fast and knows how that game is to be played! All I can say is I bet he was ready for a huge Sonic Burger after all that running! Love his smile..... he has such a big heart!
Well done Moose, and good luck on your last game of the season on Saturday.

Another STORMY night

in Barber County......

Man, was it WILD last night. Bruce and I were running from one window to another checking to see what the weather was doing.  Looking out toward our neighbor to the southeast we saw a tornado forming and dropping down. About that time we could hear the sirens going off in Hardtner. I haven't heard how everyone faired, but I don't think it ever touched the ground.

 Over Blake's house!
You can't tell here, but you could see the rotation and the movement with the naked eye.

Meanwhile, I decided I better check the other side of the house to make sure we weren't gonna be ambushed by another storm. The sunroom makes for a great place to check the weather, but I didn't like the looks of that black wall cloud.... so we gathered up Emmy and L.T. and went to the cellar. Penny wouldn't budge from the security of the house! I decided I need just one more picture, opened the door, and L.T. bolted out of the door into the oncoming storm. I yelled for him, but he wouldn't come so off we went to the cellar - with only Emmy. After 15 - 20 minutes of hail and wind, we came up for a "Look See" and it was still hailing, I went to find Penney and L.T. was on the deck covered in Icey remnants of the hail. We felt so BAD!  We let him in, dried him off, and he finally settled down!

On the west side of the house. An ugly wall cloud!

Just a word to the wise! Do NOT trust those weather radios. Ours never went off when we saw the tornadoes, but yet it will go off 2 counties away for alerts. Go figure!  Anyways, Bruce is out doing a few repairs, and I haven't heard of the fate of the wheat or anyone else. We're heading to Medicine Lodge here soon, and I know they had a tornado too around Lake City. I tried to upload a video here, but I'm not a patient person, so if you want to see it, I posted it on Facebook. What a night!! Glad that's over.....
